when sketching out the sketch,
putting the pear and apple in their places,
locating the cup just so,
I see you use blue and wonder why
why blue, when available in such
abundance? why use shadow
to fill a plate of light? why a hue
no fruit would dress in day or night?
blue is cheating, isn’t it?
this is fruit, not some sky.
not a cityscape or a space station;
its’s apples and pears and grapes.
you may as well turn it upside down.
you might as well just stare at it
and drink your beer, put it on the floor...
